Memory Box TUTORIAL

Memory Box Tutorial

This box can be used for a variety of things: photo storage, card box for new cards or keepsakes like birthday cards, notes, ticket stubs, etc. The smaller version is nice for keeping your photos that are stored on CD, such as a CD Box for the new baby! Also makes a great gift and will look amazing in any of our Paper Ranges!
·         Chipboard cut into the following sizes:
1x 4 1/2 x 7 5/8
1x 5 7/8 x 7 5/8
1x 2 ¾ x 7 5/8
2x 2 3/8 x 7 5/8
·         The following 5 sheets of Fabscraps Heritage paper:

·         Matching die-cut Roses from Fabscraps Roses Book
·         Journal Tags and Sticker from the Heritage Range
·         Key Charm, eyelets and Ribbon to match
·         3 x coordinating cardstock
Instructions
1.      Trim patterned paper to 9 ¼ x 12
2.      Lay patterned paper facing down and place chipboard (2 ¾ x 7 5/8) 1” from the top in the middle of the page and adhere.
3.      Lay chipboard (2 3/8 x 7 5/8) next to the first one using 2 pieces of chipboard held together to make the space in between these two pieces. Adhere.
4.        Lay chipboard (5 7/8 x 7 5/8) next again using spacers. Trim the patterned paper (Roses) where you see the dotted lines so that only half of the chipboard will be covered. The rest of the chipboard will be covered with (blue).

5.      Adhere trimmed  (blue) paper to cover the other half of the exposed chipboard overlapping the Rose patterned paper slightly and continue to adhere last 2 remaining pieces of chipboard using the spacers, first chipboard (2 3/8 x 7 5/8) and then last chipboard piece (4 ½ x 7 5/8) to the paper (blue).
6.      Now that all the chipboard is adhered to the patterned papers, trim corners and cover as you would a school book, folding all the edges in and folding each section as you go along.
7.      Bend into photo box shape.
8.      Take 2 pieces (blue stripe) and trim them to 7 ½ x 12. Adhere to cover inside of your photo box to cover folded edges. Bend and shape your box as you adhere from one side to the other.
9.      Fold into shape and put in your eyelets as per picture.
10.  Using  (light brown), trim so you have 2x 5 3/8 x 12  pieces. Score these 2 pieces at 1” intervals and bend into a zig zag.
11.  Cut 3 coordinating pieces of cardstock into 9 pieces all measuring 5 3/8 x6 7/8” in size.
12.  Adhere these 9 pieces into the zig zag folds, first adhere on the one side until all 9 pieces adhere to the zig zag, then do the same on the other side until you have your spaces that will hold your photos or keepsakes.
13.  Using left over piece of  (blue stripe) adhere to front of the pockets.
14.  Adhere last pocket to the inside of your photo box. Try to place it in the middle. Then fold your box and adhere the front pocket that is covered in the stripe paper to the front of the box, you will see the striped section in the front where it sticks out.
15.  Now your photo box is all made up. You can thread your ribbon through the eyelets and close as you wish, either tying the ribbon or using a button to open and close your box. Decorate!

To make the Baby CD Box, you do exactly the same as for the Photo Box except these are the sizes you would need to cut your chipboard to make your CD Box:

1x 2 5/8 x 6 1/8”
2x 2 3/8 x 6 1/8
1x 6 1/8 x 6 1/8
1x 4 ½ x 6 1/8
Zig zag fold paper will measure 5 3/8 x 12” scored at 1”  intervals and folded.
Cardstock cut into( 9)  5 3/8 x 5 ¾”  for your pockets.
All other instructions as per Photo Box. Enjoy!

This Tutorial came from the Fab Scraps website. I changed the measurements to inches instead of metric but if you still need the metric measurements the link is HERE  I used my own paper choice and just disregarded the color descriptions in the tutorial.  Fab Scraps has beautiful papers I just didn't have any at the time.  =)
